Locations SIG Meeting

The focus of the Locations SIG is travel photography, with emphasis on access, photo-taking conditions, and photo problems unique to a particular location. Any location is a valid subject, even or maybe especially Mississauga or Ontario or Canada. The quality of the photography is not a topic.

Presentations usually last about 20 minutes maximum, leaving time for questions/answers and discussion in each hour. Questions are usually about travel arrangements rather than photo equipment. Two travel presentations per meeting is usual.

The Locations SIG holds sessions eight or nine times per season, once a month in the fall, winter & spring. Meetings are usually held Wednesday evenings in the Mississauga Senior Centre on a week that does not have a general meeting of the MCC. Meetings start at 7:00 pm and end between 9:30 and 10:00 pm.

Presentations to the Locations SIG does not mean that the same material cannot be shown later to the full MCC.

We hope that MCC members usually at the Intermediate or Advanced level who have an interest in travel photography (often shown by their competition results) will join the SIG. Current membership is about 25, and we now have room to grow.

A fee of $20 per season is required to join, and members are expected to volunteer to show a short trip presentation in the first year or two of membership, when there is room on the agenda. Non-members of this SIG can usually attend a presentation in which they have a particular interest, but they will not receive notices of meetings. A request to attend must be made to the leader of the SIG (Janet Martin at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).

We are a very social group and appreciate help with set up and take down activities. We can almost guarantee that new members of this SIG will benefit from their close contacts with the other members.
